Growing up just outside Washington, DC, Robyn was given a bad fake ID and high heels by older friends on her 13th birthday to sneak into shows. Keeping her mouth shut (braces!), she hit up the 9:30 Club to see Bad Brains, Go-Go shows, hip-hop clubs, and backyard throwdowns. Hooked on sonics, she got a job at Mr. Lees Record Store in Tysons Corner Mall, only to spend her entire paycheck there. At the time, she dreamt of becoming a back up dancer for Salt N Pepa or wanted to be Robert Smiths girlfriend. Quite the conundrum: Boys who wear lipstick and the girls who would have beat their man for doing so. With neither dream coming to fruition, she took a job straight out of college in Los Angeles for Raygun Magazine, where she held many titles in the books ten year run. High Heels puts the sassy into eclecticism, as she goes through jams for the girls, soul, hip-hop, Latin/African rhythms, and bubble gum pop. A mix tape, really, for all her friends out there.
