We know that your anticipation for our track of the decade pick has been slowly squeezing your brain like a sparkly Ed Hardy drawn dragon fucking a motorcycle t-shirt, so: After much deliberation, we've come to our conclusion. Everything in music that was so amazing and awful about this decade's digital diarrhea explosion in the world's web pants can be summed up with Bangs' "Let Me Take You To the Movies." The sheer audacity of someone like Bangs to continue existing gives us very little hope for the future. But, fellow music lovers, people above a pre-k reading level, we can all wish to The Secret that it won't get any worse. And, hopefully, the next decade will bring us less professional karaoke singers, biological mistakes from reality teevee, cleansing diets, smoking bans, safe places for the kids to play, and, most importantly, healthy cereal. We'll have more of the best of the decade from each DJ over the next few weeks. Keep it locked right here.
Greenmoney cook up summer in the winter with a new episode of dancefloor heaters from your favorite rave shack in the woods. New music from Smutlee, Donaeo, Havana Cultura, Redlight, and plenty more. Plus! The fellas get back on the decks for an exclusive mix. Keep it locked right here.

President Obama, leaders in government and large majorities of people all over the world have been talking about global warming and its effects on the planet for quite some time now, but have any of them made major moves towards a solution? I haven’t heard anything – maybe because right now that little scuffle overseas is taking up all their time. In the meantime, Paul D. Miller, better known by the professional title of DJ Spooky, that Subliminal Kid, made his way to the driest and coldest continent of Antarctica to do some research of his own.
DJ Emch of Subatomic Sound System on Brooklyn Radio (far right) gets his dub heavy with Dubblestandart in Vienna this past Thursday. Those crazy kids and their keytars will be in Bombay, India on the 17th--if youre in the hood!--and the island of Goa for New Year's Eve.
We handed over our entire 10 year anniversary Tru Thoughts Records 3-disc set of massive tracks over to the amazingly skilled JFB. The result is a one-hour magical mix of thirty-three tracks cut up and mixed by the master himself. If you have not heard of JFB…let me hip you now. JFB is the former DMC and Vestax Champion DJ from our hometown of Brighton. Not only does he spin all over the UK, but is also known for his unbelievable craftiness in turntablism. JFB can record anything on spot and scratch it immediately. He also makes way creative videos of his scratch routines, and still finds the time to produce his own tunes in dubstep, drum n’ bass and break beat.
Tru Thoughts and ThinkIndie are offering this mix FREE for download one day only, and that day is today. Dig!
Sad news out of Williamsburg today: Solange Raulston, 33, a.k.a. DJ Reverend Soul, was biking to work Sunday afternoon when she was sideswiped by a truck and killed. The accident happened on Nassau Avenue in Greenpoint, around noon, the New York Post reports. Soul was a funk jock export from London, who had been living in the city for five years, gigging regularly at Bembe, Rose Live Music, and other spots in the Burg. This news follows in the wake of a Brooklyn drummer being shot last week in his Carol Gardens apartment, and another falling down an elevator shaft to his death last month. The DJ and music community sends its condolences to Solange's friends, family, and supporters. They'll be holding a tribute for her tonight at Rose's. After the cut, a video of Reverend Soul and former BK Radio host DJ Concerned getting the party up and funky, Brooklyn-stylee.
